Haiti - Return match : Without demerit, our Grenadières bow to Canada [3-1] (video)

On Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, the friendly return match between the Canadian Canucks (ranked 7th in the world) and our Haitian Grenadières (ranked 53rd in the world) took place on the field of the Saputo Stadium in Montreal. More than 18,000 spectators, mostly Haitians, attended the match. Despite their defeat [3-1], our Grenadières held their own and showed great courage, resilience, and fighting spirit. The Canadian goal scorers took advantage of a few mistakes by the Grenadières to make the difference in the first half.

For this second high-level friendly match in this double women's international, French coach Malou Quignette has unveiled his starting XI to face Canada, with only one change from the first match: Maudeline Moryl replaces Dayana Pierre-Louis in midfield.

#1 Kaïna Cesar Pietrus : Lipscomb Bisons (USA) (Goalkeeper)

#3 Jennyfer Limage : RC Lens (France)

#5 Maudeline Moryl

#6 Melchie Daelle Dumornay : Olympique Lyonnais (France) (Captain)

#7 Batcheba Louis : FC Fleury97 (France)

#8 Deborah Bien Aimé : FIU Panthers (USA)

#9 Sherly Jeudy : RC Lens (France)

Summary :

As in the first leg, Canada took the lead. Taking advantage of a few mistakes by the Grenadières in the first half, Canada scored three goals against Haiti. Evelyne Viens opened the scoring for the Canucks in the 16th minute (1-0). A few minutes later, in the 23rd minute, Holly Ward scored a second goal (2-0), and Evelyne Viens scored twice in the 42nd minute, making it 3-0 for Canada.

However, Haiti responded with character. Melchie Dumornay, aka "Corventina," reduced the deficit just before halftime on a penalty won by Ketna Louis at 45'+2', giving hope to all our determined Grenadières.

In the second half, Malou Quignette made three substitutions. Dougenie Tabita Joseph replaced Amandine Pierre-Louis in the 53rd minute, Dayana Pierre-Louis replaced Déborah Bien-Aimé in the 68th minute, and Chelsea Domond replaced Sherly Jeudy in the 81st minute.

Our Grenadières displayed a more balanced game, with 11 shots, 49% possession, and consistent intensity. Haiti pushed, tempted, and sometimes worried the Canadian rearguard. This performance demonstrates the progress our players have made under the leadership of Malou Quignette.

The next goal : to learn from this double header and continue building a strong and competitive team for the upcoming international competitions.
